How it Works?

Are you still asking why this is free? Its simple!! We are paid by Con Edison to reduce peak demand within their electric networks by installing energy saving compact fluorescent bulbs, and in the process you benefit with reduced electric bills. It also helps reduce the chances of blackouts.

How do you sign up?

The only way to get on the list is to call 718-720-2209. The reason is we need to ask a few questions about your home and ensure it qualifies in one the electric networks we are working in Staten Island. We will add you to our list and verify with Con Edison you qualify. If you qualify, we will call you to schedule an appointment. This process can take a few weeks before we can schedule your home.

Once you are scheduled.

Please keep the following points in mind as your appointment installation date approaches:

1.) Consider your lighting preferences and areas where you watch T.V., work, read, eat, cook, and put on makeup etc. so we can match your illumination needs for you and your family.

2.) We carry many types of compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL’s), but may not have the CFL’s that meet 100% of your needs. You may choose what you like at installation time. Replacements should be for fixtures used often both inside and out, as these are the ones increasing your electric bill. See Free Bulbs We Offer for information about the bulbs we install.

3.) Please have a current Con Edison bill of the home available on the date of installation. To obtain a copy you can call Con Edison at 800-752-6633.

Installation Process

A crew of one-two persons wearing yellow and/or green uniforms with identification and driving a white van with a sign with our company logo will arrive on your scheduled appointment date to install compact fluorescent lights (CFL’s) free of charge. An inspector representing Con Edison may also be with the crew to ensure you receive maximum benefits and verify we are performing the best job possible for you!!

The crew will walk with you through your home and remove and take old bulbs, installing new energy efficient long-life CFL’s based on your wants and needs. The crew will have a contract that will require a signature from you verifying we were at your home. The contract clearly states there is no charge to you for the work we have done.

That's It!!

Once we have installed the new energy efficient bulbs we are done and you can enjoy the savings on your electric bill. The CFL’s are designed to last 5000-7000 hours or about 3-5 years. We guarantee the CFL’s for one year from the date of installation. Within the year of installation, we will remove defective CFL’s and install new CFL’s free of charge. Typically, defects in CFL’s occur within the first year. After a year, we have a reorder form to purchase new bulbs from our distributor at a reduced cost.
